Данная разработка может быть использована на уроке английского языка в 5 классе по теме «Learning more about London».
Обучение ведётся по УМК М.З. Биболетовой. При изучении этой темы возможно использование информационного ресурса stepic.org .
Цели урока:
- формирование коммуникативных компетенций по теме «Learning more about London»;
- развитие познавательных интересов учащихся, умения социального общения в совместной деятельности;
- расширение лексического запаса, создание условий для воспроизведения в памяти учащихся системы опорных знаний и умений по изученной теме, применение изученных фраз в диалогической и монологической речи.
Методические рекомендации:

Данный урок можно использовать и для дистанционного обучения английскому языку. Урок - «Виртуальное путешествие в Лондон». Предполагается, что у учеников уже имеется основная грамматическая и лексическая база по данной теме. Класс делится на 2 группы. Первая группа – ученики из России, которые летят в Лондон, а вторая группа - английские школьники. Каждая группа получает задание и собирает необходимую информацию из всех доступных источников, обе группы должны знать материал о 4 достопримечательностях данных в учебнике и изучить карту Лондона.
Задания первой группы (группа 1-ученики из России). Почему люди путешествуют в другие страны и на чём? Ответить на вопросы после видео.
Задание второй группы (группа 2-английские школьники). Угадать по описанию, какая это достопримечательность.
Просмотр видео обязателен для обеих групп.
Работа в таком режиме способствует
1. более глубокому и детальному изучению данной темы.
2. формированию навыков самостоятельной работы по сбору материала, использованию разных источников информации и работы в виртуальной группе.
3. важным моментом является особый настрой учеников, когда они не боятся делать ошибки в речи, свободно, не стесняясь, работают над совершенствованием своих языковых навыков.
Оснащение урока:
- раздаточный материал;
- музыкальное сопровождение;
- аудиозапись объявлений в аэропорту;
- интернет ресурсы.

Ход урока

Teacher: Nowadays a lot of people travel to other countries. They have different reasons. Why do people travel? Rate the reasons according to their importance and add your own reason.
Возможные варианты ответов.
Pupils:
-They want to discover new places
-They want to meet new people and get to know their lifestyles and their traditions
-They travel on business
-They want to have a rest
-They want to investigate the world
-They want to see new places
-They want to meet their friends
-They travel because of curiosity…
Teacher: There are a lot of means of travelling. How can people travel?
Students: People can travel by bus, by car, by plane, by ship, by train, on foot.
Teacher: I hardly believe that one day you will go abroad that’s why we should learn some information about other countries and cities.
Do you like to travel?
Students: Of course, we do!
Teacher: Where would you like to travel?
Students: We would like to travel to London because it is the capital of Great Britain. We would like to practice our English.
Teacher: By the way, we have an invitation letter from our English pen-friends. Let’ have a trip to London right now! The virtual trip! So, what is the theme of our lesson?
Students: We travel to London.
Teacher: Let’s divide into 2 groups! The students of the first group will fly to London and the students of the second group will be English pen friends who will meet Russian students in London.
So, how can we travel to London?
Students: We can travel from Russia to Great Britain only by plain! By the way, travelling by air is always very comfortable and much quicker.
Teacher: Are you ready to travel? Let’s fly!
Звучит песня «Airplane» группы «Океан Эльзи» для создания атмосферы полёта.
По прибытии в аэропорт звучат объявления в аэропорту:
-The plane from Russia has landed. British students are waiting for Russian students at the information desk.
Teacher: We are in London. Meet your friends! Make a dialog «At the airport».
Example:

-Hello! Welcome to London!

Hello! Nice to meet you too!

-How was your flight?

It was fantastic/great/wonderful. It was all right, but I was a bit airsick.

-I am glad to hear it./ What a pity. How do you feel now?

All right!

-Have you ever been to London?

No, I have never been to London! What is it like?

 
 

-It is one of the most famous and interesting cities in Europe. There are lots of places to visit in London: museums, Art galleries, theatres…

I can see that you really like London!

 

-Yes, of course! It is one of my favorite

cities. I’ll show you London tomorrow!

Great! I look forward to it.

I hope you will stay with our family! Let’s go to my place and have a rest!

Teacher: Some of you will be guides. Tell us about one of your favorite sights of London. This video can help you to show 10 attractions of London. (Включаем видео).

Student: The best starting point for all the excursions is well known Trafalgar square with Nelson’s Column in the center. The square was named to commemorate the victory of British vice-admiral Nelson at the battle of Trafalgar in 1805 and the Column is surmounted with his statue.
The next stop is Westminster Abbey. It is a big church and a national shrine, a place, where English kings and queens are crowned and famous people are buried. It’s well known for its’ Poets’ Corner with memorials to English poets and writers who were buried here.
You have watched the video and now answer these questions.
1. What sights is London famous for?
2. When was Tower Bridge built?
3. What square is the most famous in London? What other square is in the centre of this square?
4. What palace is the residence of the British monarch?
5. Why are London buses so unusual? 
Teacher: And now guess what place of interest it is.
1. You can see it from the river Thames. It is very old and has a long and cruel history. Since it was built by William the Conqueror in the 11th century, this castle has been a Royal palace, a prison, a place of execution, a zoo, the Royal Mint, and an observatory. (The Tower of London).
2. It is a symbol of England. The legend says that it was founded by St Peter himself. It was built in 1065. The coronation of all British Kings and Queens takes place here. Some famous English people are also buried here. (Westminster Abbey).
3. Tourists in London always want to visit this sight. It is really a big bell. It has a deep tone and you can hear it every hour. Built in 1858, it was named after an architect. (Big Ben)
4. The countries leaders speak here. This sight stands beside the river Thames. You can see it from Westminster Bridge. (The Houses of Parliament).
Teacher: Dear boys and girls, thank you for your wonderful work. Did you enjoy our travelling to London? What information was the most memorable and interesting for you? I think that we should thank our English students for this wonderful excursion and a hospitable meeting. Invite them to visit our country.
And now write down your home. Write a letter to your friend about your travelling to London. Tell him about the most interesting things. Ask him about his last trip.
