Dear friends, students and our teachers, now we are ready to start our concert.
On the eve of Victory Day we devote it to this great holiday to commemorate war heroes, veterans. We want to tell people all over the world about heroic deeds of our grandparents who saved our country from fascist invaders in the battles of the Great Patriotic War and together with the soldiers of antifascist coalition win in the Second World War and brought peace to the people of Europe.
We remember. We honor. We are proud of them!
On the 22 of June at 4:00 a.m., without presenting any claims against the Soviet Union or issuing a declaration of war, German troops attacked our country, assaulting our borders in many places and bombing our cities of Zhitomir, Kiev, Sevastopol, and others. This perfidious aggression against our country was a treachery without precedent in the history of civilized nations.
The Great Patriotic War lasted 4 long years and was the deadliest war in our history, resulting in more than 27 million military and civilian deaths. You can hardly find a family in Russia whose relative hadn’t died as a hero for our Motherland in that war.
This song is devoted to the heroes whose names are unknown, but their feat is immortal.
(Song “Cranes”)
Отрывок из к/ф “Офицеры” и стихотворение “Братские могилы”
The Battle for Moscow - the Germans code-named it 'Operation Typhoon' - started on the second of October 1941. The capture of Russia's capital was seen as vital to the success of 'Operation Barbarossa'. Hitler believed that once the heart - Moscow - had been cut out of Russia, the whole nation would collapse. The Battle for Moscow lasted till mid-spring of 1942. Some seven million people were involved, including all the residents of Moscow. The whole country united to fight for the main city. And finally, as a result of great moral power and excellent strategy, the Nazis were defeated. The battle for Moscow marked the first major defeat of fascist Germany in World War II.
(Poem “Wait for me”)
The Battle of Kursk took place in July 1943. Kursk was to be the biggest tank battle of World War Two and the battle resulted in a severe crisis for Nazi Germany’s war machine in Russia.
(Song “Tanks on the Battlefield”)
Stalingrad, now Volgograd, was a city on the Volga River. It was an important industrial city. If the Germans won the battle, then they would control the Caucasus area of Russia, and its oil. Hitler also wanted to capture Stalingrad because it was named after Josef Stalin, the leader of the Soviet Union. Marshal Zhukov used six armies of one million men to surround the city. A complete army group was lost at Stalingrad and 91,000 Germans were taken prisoner. With such a massive loss of manpower and equipment, the Germans simply did not have enough manpower to cope with the Russian advance to Germany when it came.
(Song “Katyusha”)
The Battle for Berlin marked the end of World War Two in Europe and was of vital importance. It was fought between April and May 1945, and the victory in it put an end to Hitler's Third Reich and the bloodiest war in the history of mankind.
We remember! We honor! We are grateful to the heroes who brought peace 70 years ago.
70 years without war and let we always live peacefully. We wish peace and friendship for all people on our planet now and forever!
(Song “Victory Day”)
